A DISTRESSED man who went missing in York was found after a search through the night by 35 police officers and PCSOs.

The man, aged 54, was reported missing at 9.25pm on Tuesday after last being seen that afternoon at Clifton Moor Gate.

Officers, including specialist search officers, searched for him. He was found after 11am the following morning and treated at York Hospital for a suspected overdose as well as head and shoulder injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Supt Lisa Winward said: “This is an excellent example of the time and effort taken by police officers and PCSOs to locate a missing man whose life was at risk.

“The officers’ actions meant he was located and taken to hospital before events led to a tragic end.”
