THIS is batch number three of Nick Cave’s Collector’s Edition re-issues, this time spanning 1994 to 2001, when wrought gothic drama gradually made way for calmer, reflective waters.
The last-man-standing raucous blues of his Grinderman albums would be around the corner, once he hit 50, but this seven-year stretch is a purple patch in the Cave canon, Let Love In letting all hell out; Murder Ballads bringing guests Kylie and PJ Harvey to the slaughter, and The Boatman’s Call parading his best ever ballad, Into My Arms, and the equally heart-pumping (Are You) The One That I’ve Been Waiting For?.
No More Shall We Part had God Is In The House rather than the devil. Each re-mastered album comes bolstered with a DVD disc with film, videos, B-sides and sleeve-notes: more treasures from an old Cave.
