YORK-based Access To Music training centre and the Jam Factory recording studio took part in their sixth annual football tournament to raise awareness of Fairtrade issues.
Three teams, made up of digital music students, musicians and tutors, competed. For the first year in the tournament’s history the performing students won, partly thanks to star goalkeeper Ollie Altham.
This year Access To Music had applied for Fairtrade status and hopes to promote the cause. Sarah Humphreys, spokeswoman for Access To Music, said they used a Fairtrade football, T-shirts, and handed out Fairtrade information to students and spectators.
Access To Music is a provider of innovative and popular music training for young people. It is based at the Jam Factory, a recording space for local musicians in Eldon Street. Budding musicians are invited to its open evenings on Monday and Wednesday.
