OVINGTON got the better of hosts York ‘B’ in Zone ‘A’ of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company Under-9s Cricket League after Tim Burgess scored 19 and took 1-1.
He was supported by Cormac Malone 11, Issac Burland 10 and Jack Walmsley 1-9. York’s main contributors were Leo Boddy who made 23 and J Gilman 0-6.
In Zone ‘B’, York ‘A’ are perched happily at the top after a win over Acomb ‘C’.
Sam Backhouse (29), Matthew Roberts (25), Josh Wood (20) and R Beaumont 13 gave the Acomb fielders the run around and Backhouse took 4-1 in his two overs and Sam Lonsdale 1-7.
There were also wickets for Wood, Beaumont and F Schofield. For Acomb, Ben Thornton made ten and Tom Brown took 2-7.
Pocklington moved up the table and gave their net run rate a boost with a win over bottom side Dunnington ‘B’.
In Zone ‘C’, Stamford Bridge ran out winners over Londesborough Park but credit must go to both sides for completing the fixture in the rain.
Sam Pratt top-scored with 24, Dan Durkin (23), Will Dixon (17), Ben Barnett (15) and Ben Goodliffe 15. Durkin, Goodliffe and Dixon each captured two wickets to mark a good all round performance.
