POCKLINGTON will meet York in the semi-finals of the York & District Junior Cricket Association’s Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire Under-13s Cup after both came through their quarter-final matches.

Thixendale batted first against York and T Spearman’s 4-9 restricted them to just 50-8.

York did not have things all their own way but eased past the target for the loss of four wickets.

Pocklington amassed 125 in their match with Clifton Alliance thanks to 33 from B Potter.

Alliance never coped with the bowling of J Harvey (4-11) and J Jackson (3-6) and fell 88 runs short.

In the other half of the draw, Malton & Old Malton will meet Londesborough Park, whose batsmen are in great form this year.

Nathan Saltmer rattled up a quick 31 to put his side in command with 107-2 against Bishopthorpe.

Joe Shingles then took six wickets for only three runs to rout Bishopthorpe for just 29.

Malton & Old Malton eased past Acomb without much trouble, with M Fraser unbeaten on 22.

In the Plate competition, A Burton (33), H Sheppeard (33) and J Snowden (26) put holders Osbaldwick in command with a score of 130-2, which proved too much for their Yapham opponents who closed at 52-8.

Heworth struggled to make 61-6 when they batted. Sheriff Hutton had no problems, an unbeaten 30 from J Simpson giving them a ten-wicket win.

Dringhouses batted first against Tadcaster Magnets with S Backhouse being the main contributor with 28 and J Barker taking 3-4 in a score of 65-5.

H Jackson’s 23 for Tadcaster saw them win a tight game with 66-7.

Meanwhile, Acomb kept up their challenge for the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11s League (HB) with a win over Dunnington.

Dan Watkinson (12), P Atkin (11) and L Crosby (11) were the top run scorers coupled with economic bowling from J Stilgo (2-5), Charlie Marshall (1-5) and Matty Linderello (1-7).

Good performances from Harry Bradley, with 14, and Harrison Mussell, with 3-7, helped Dunnington make a game of it.

Neck and neck with Acomb are Sheriff Hutton Bridge. Zac Wilson hit 11, J Ainley took 2-3, H Sutcliffe 1-1 and J Mahon 2-3 in their win over Clifton Alliance. For Alliance, Owen Marshall top-scored with 17.

The mid-table clash between Ovington and Selby saw the home team come out on top thanks to Charlie Buckley’s return of 13 not out and 2-4.

Tom Walker chipped in with 2-8 and Ralph Sinclair 1-4.

For Selby, Brandon I’anson made 13 not out and took 1-3, while Oliver Steward claimed 1-2.

Rory Stephenson made 12 and Matthew Dick took 2-2 as Londesborough Park beat Pocklington to keep them in contention at the top.

Bishopthorpe did their play-off hopes no end of good with a home win over Hemingbrough in Zone ‘A’ of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 League (IB).

Three-wicket hauls from A Bindloss (3-0) and T Brown (3-8) and a 1-1 spell from E Kilby contained the Hemingbrough batsmen, while with the bat W Ellis made 14 and Brown made 11.

Hemingbrough claimed the top score in the game as G Wilson hit 15. He was aided by Issac Leach, who scored ten, and J Bell, who took 1-6.

Wheldrake and Cawood fought out an evenly-matched game which saw Cawood come out on top.

Woodhouse Grange beat Hemingbrough to go through to the semi-final of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11s (IB) Cup.

Victory was thanks to Rebecca Ainley, with 12, and Sam Wake, who took 1-6.

For Hemingbrough, Issac Leach made ten and took 3-14.

Zone ‘B’ leaders Heworth were too strong for a young Bolton Percy side, who still never gave up at any stage.

Heworth won the toss and chose to field and were soon among the wickets through Zak Moorcroft (5-4), Fergus McAughtrie (3-6), Paddy Mulvey (2-0) and Alistair Browne (2-2).

Batting proved little problem either with Luke Huffer making 19, Browne 18, Oliver Hughes 17, Moorcroft 16 and Ryan Whitley 16.

Percy’s best contribution came from Cameron Orr with figures of 1-14.

They will be joined by Stamford Bridge who beat Yapham in a game where bowlers were on top.

For Stamford Bridge, Joseph Kears led the way with excellent figures of 4-6, assisted by Ben Beard who took 2-15.

Yapham’s C Medforth helped his side’s cause with 2-10.
