They finished a fine season with a 6-6 draw against Birstall, in which there were top performances from Harry Griffiths, who displayed excellent defence and scored two great tries, Jak Ostergaard, who also defended solidly and scored a try, most improved player Niall Bowlby and top tackler Bradley Burns, who scored a belter.
Jensen Brown got the ‘magic moment’ award for shrugging off three players to score, and Kian Oliver got the last try.
Heworth U11s completed their season with a magnificent display at Hunslet Parkside – their best of the year.
All 15 players were men of the match as they ran in six tries, two of which were try-of-the-season contenders, and kept a fourth clean sheet of the season.
Sam Young scored his fifth hat-trick of term, Shay North took his tally to 20 for the season, Josh Rogerson finished a belter and Henri Grimbley scored the final try, his first of the campaign.
New Earswick U9s ended their super season at home to Stanley.
Lewis Young was man of the match, Ellena Powell took the ‘magic moment’ award for a try-saving tackle, Will Harrison drove the ball in hard to take the ‘rising star’ accolade, and Ellie Harrison was girl of the game, top tackler and the opposition’s choice of player of the match.
