A race night at the Boot And Slipper in Barmby Moor raised more than £1,435 for the renal unit at York Hospital in memory of a former dialysis patient, Janet Johnson.
The event was organised by Janet’s family after she lost her 20-year battle with chronic kidney failure in December 2010 at the age of 58. Janet had been on dialysis for 20 years and she had also battled breast cancer. Maurice Rollinson, Janet’s brother said: “We wanted to organise the Race Night in memory of Janet and to give something back to the renal unit where she spent a large part of her life.”
Janet King, senior sister of renal services said: “This will make a real difference to patients.”
