THE Canadian High Commissioner, James Wright, has sent a special thank you message to York.
The city played host, along with London and Birmingham, to a three-day Canadian festival to co-incide with the Canadian national day and the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Canada.
Lord Mayor Coun David Horton and the civic party were present at the York part of the festival at the Belfrey Hall on Saturday.
Thanking the residents of York for their part in the festival, the commissioner also spoke of the warm welcome Canadian pilots and crews had received when based in Yorkshire during the Second World War.
