TRIBUTES have been paid to a community leader who died suddenly while on holiday.
Barbara Wilson was chair of Sherburn-in-Elmet parish council until last April, and had recently been co-opted back on to the council. She died while holidaying with her niece in the United States.
Bob Packham, the current parish council chairman, said: “Barbara has made a huge contribution to the village and her enthusiasm will be greatly missed by the parish council, community association and many others.
“This village will miss Barbara’s guidance and leadership.”
