WALKERS have taken part in a five mile hike around the picturesque grounds of Castle Howard to raise money for charity.
More than 40 people took part in the Walk The Extra Mile Challenge to raise about £1,000 to enable Diabetes UK to conduct research into the condition.
Julie Nattrass, regional fundraising administrator for Diabetes UK, said: “It was a lovely atmosphere and a lovely sunny day. There were all age groups there – families, elderly people. We wandered through the estate and back through the grounds of Castle Howard.”
Among the walkers was Brett Lee, 47, from Scarborough, who was diagnosed with diabetes ten years ago.
He took part in the walk with his son Robert, 11, to help the charity which he says has given him important support.
