THE finishing touches are being put to this year’s York Pride festival.
The main event will be staged in Rowntree Park on July 30.
It will feature live music, cabaret, stalls, food and an adult bouncy castle.
The event is a celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
This year, anyone with a York Pride 2011 wristband will also receive discounts in almost 40 shops, bars and restaurants during Pride week, from July 29 to August 7.
There will also be a tribute to David Kato, the Ugandan gay rights activist formerly based at York’s Centre for Applied Human Rights who was murdered in his home country earlier this year for being gay.
This will feature Gay Abandon, an LGBT choir, and a release of rainbow-coloured balloons.
