PARKING problems near the University of York may be tackled with new restrictions by City of York Council.
Residents in Badger Hill have raised increasing concerns about students parking outside their properties, as the university continues with a major campus expansion programme.
They claim restricting parking on the campus does not remove the need for parking by students but simply shifts it to surrounding streets, but some have said they do not want the ‘visual pollution’ caused by yellow lines.
Now the council’s cabinet member for city strategy, Coun Dave Merrett, is set to consider introducing waiting times for parked cars and a residents permit scheme in the worst affected streets.
A university spokesman said it was committed to working closely with the council to resolve any points of concerns raised through feedback from residents.
