A HOME semi-final awaits holders York & District Senior Cricket League in the Joe Lumb Under-17s competition.
The York team booked their place in the last four despite a defeat at Heavy Woollen and an abandonment at Sheffield.
Their unbeaten run ended when they lost by six wickets to Heavy Woollen at Moorlands CC in Mirfield.
After losing two early wickets, Andrew Simpson (68) and Tom Collins (61) laid the foundations but York were all out for 206.
Heavy Woollen passed the total for the loss of only four wickets, despite York skipper Collins taking 2-45.
Their last group game against Sheffield at Killarmarsh CC was abandoned due to rain in the 40th over of York’s innings when they were well placed on 193-2.
Oliver Sherwood batted throughout for an excellent 81 not out, assisted by Simpson (29), Matthew Hattee (34) and a quickfire 48 not out by Collins.
York’s opponents in the semi-finals, on August 7, have yet to be decided.
