A MOTORCYCLIST has been airlifted to hospital following a serious collision on the A61 between Harrogate and Leeds.
Police are at the scene, at the entrance to Wharfedale Grange Farm on the A61 near Harewood.
The collision happened at about 9.25am today and involved a green Ford Ka and a grey Kawasaki motorcycle which were both travelling towards Leeds.
The man riding the motorcycle was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with multiple injuries.
The woman driver of the Ford Ka was treated at the scene by paramedics but was not admitted to hospital.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the crash, to contact Harrogate Road Policing Unit on 0845 60 60 247, quoting reference NYP-21072011-0110.
The road was closed following the collision and reopened at around 2.20pm.
