A BAND which was formed less than two years ago will become the first York group to perform at the Millennium Dome in London this weekend.
Believe In FATE were among 10,000 bands which entered this year’s Live & Unsigned competition, vying for the chance to win a UK tour in front of 40,000 people, and up to £50,000 investment in their music.
The band is made up of Danny Porter and Joel Hewitt on guitars and vocals, drummer Ashley Harrison and bassist John Heaver.
The foursome competed in the regional finals of the contest in Sheffield back in April, before they took a bus filled with local fans to the next round in Manchester in May.
On Saturday Believe In FATE, along with 14 other bands from around the country, will travel to London’s O2 and take to the stage for the national final.
Gemma Holloway, the band’s manager, said: “Believe In FATE would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support.
“This has been a life-changing experience and they are so happy to be finalists, whatever the result, they are so proud to have the honour to play at the O2 London.”
Last month, singer Danny Porter led a number of supporters down Walmgate in a Pied Piper-style Flashmob event, before playing a gig in MOR Music to the band’s fans.
The band has also met the Lord Mayor of York, Coun David Horton, following a performance at City Screen, in Coney Street.
Once again, the band will be taking coaches of supporters to the show. Anyone who can’t attend the concert, but who would still like to vote for the York rockers can text UNSIGNED to 84222.
