A music and barbecue evening held at Nunnington Meeting Rooms raised £4,500 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service.
The event, “Ken’s bash”, was named after organiser Ken Metcalfe, who was staging his first fundraiser.
The Black Sheep Band provided music for the evening, which attracted friends, family and villagers from all around the area.
Bob Smailes, East Yorkshire fundraising manager at the YAA, who accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity said: “This is a magnificent amount to raise in one evening and the YAA are honoured to be their chosen charity. The money will be used to help keep this vital life saving service running.”
