A PLAYGROUP near York has a teddy bear as its first-ever mascot – and it will appropriately be making its first guest appearance at a teddy bear’s picnic tomorrow.
The Wilberfoss and District Playgroup and Toddler Group’s fundraising event takes place between 11.30am and 3.30pm on the village’s playing fields.
Spokeswoman Rachel Simpson said there would be a contest to name the mascot.
The event would also include face-painting, a bouncy castle, a best-dressed teddy competition, a penalty shootout, activity corner and refreshments.
She appealed for donations of any teddy-related items for the tombola and of cakes for the refreshment corner.
“We are really trying to build a community spirit and bring families together,” said Rachel.
She can be phoned on 07850 075467 for more information or if anyone wants to make a donation.
