An all-bowled hat-trick from Selby’s Dan Toone, who went on to record impressive figures of 4-7, was still not enough to see his team to victory as hosts Acomb ran out winners in the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 League (HB).

It was a game dominated by bowlers with Acomb’s Jo Stillgoe recording remarkable figures of 4-0. There were other notable Acomb performances – Louis Crosbie took 0-2, Dan Watkinson 2-7, Dan Murray 2-5 and Charlie Marshall 2-5. Stillgoe also shone with the bat, his knock of 11 helping his side over the line.

In a close game York ousted Ovington.

Tom Backhouse (2-7) was well supported by Williams (23 and 1-11) and Wordsworth (17) while, for Ovington, Ralph Sinclair made 11 and all-rounder Charlie Buckley top scored with 17 and took 2-12.

York also conquered Clifton Alliance, thanks predominately to H Smith who took 3-10. His efforts followed up strong batting by C Hall (14), C Wordsworth (13), M Boswell (12) and Smith himself (13).

The Alliance reply centred on 12 from Dan Moll but York prevailed.

Acomb’s strong run-in continued with a close win over Londesborough Park.

Dan Watkinson top-scored with 15 and their trademark economical bowling attack were again in form as C Brooks (0-5), Tom Brown (1-2) and Louis Crosbie (1-11) kept a tight grip on the Park batsmen.

For Park, C Brook made 16 and Rory Stephenson 13 with S Wake (2-14), O Winstanley (2-8), D Western (1-7) and K Brook (1-8) not quite able to seal triumph.

Unbeaten leaders Sheriff Hutton Bridge burst Acomb’s bubble however as they brought the unbeaten run to an end to inch to the title.

A Campion and Zac Wilson were joint top scorers for Bridge with 13 apiece, supported by 12 from Harry Sutcliffe.

Acomb’s innings was wrecked by Gabriel McGill (2-6) and Wilson (1-5).
