THE under-10s stood tall for the host club at New Earswick All Blacks ARLC juniors’ annual gala at White Rose Avenue – with Sherburn Bears U9s also flying the flag for North Yorkshire.

Despite poor weather conditions, hundreds of youngsters from across Yorkshire and Humberside turned out at All Blacks’ headquarters for the day-long fundraising rugby league festival, which also involved a number of stalls and attractions, including a raffle, tombola, bouncy castle and coconut shy.

The host club had teams at each age group – from U8s to U13s – while cross-city neighbours Heworth entered a team at U8s and York Acorn likewise at U12s.

The U8s also featured Beverley Braves, Townville and Eastmoor Dragons, with Eastmoor being the overall winners.

The U9s competition featured Rodley Rockets, Harehills, Sherburn Bears and the home club, with the Bears coming out on top.

In the U10s, Batley Boys, Eastmoor, Wetherby Bulldogs, Townville and New Earswick did battle, with the host club being victorious.

The U11s competition involved Bradford Dudley Hill, Garforth Tigers, Batley Boys, Townville and New Earswick, with Batley being the overall winners.

Eastmoor Dragons had another successful team in the U12s event against Wetherby Bulldogs, Acorn and All Blacks.

Lastly, the U13s competition featured Upton, Beverley Braves and New Earswick, with Beverley being triumphant.

The All Blacks have thanked all the volunteers and referees from the York & District Society for their help.
