THE fashions and furnishings of the fifties, sixties and seventies went on sale in York as Parliament Street hosted a sale of vintage clothes and collectables.
Today's event, the first of its kind in the city centre, proved popular with visitors as they browsed stalls selling everything from vintage cake stands to vinyl records.
Co-organiser of the event Kath Dickinson, who runs Nancy’s Vintage Boutique, said: “This is a celebration of all things vintage from the twenties to the eighties.
“We have a selection of vintage scooters and clothes and cup cakes. I think it’s a really good thing for York.
“People are catching on that you can buy really good vintage clothing which can be cheaper and better quality than what you buy on the high street, and it’s unique.”
Penny Chapman, city centre events manager for City of York Council, said the market had a lovely atmosphere and she would like to repeat it in the future.
