ADA Appleyard scored a hat- trick at this year’s Copmanthorpe garden competition.
Mrs Appleyard has now won the title of best plant person for three years in a row, and has also won the 2011 title of best village garden.
She has enjoyed gardening for several years, but said the hobby had become more enjoyable now she is retired, as she has more time to care for her plants.
“Gardening is relaxing,” said Ada.
“It’s just nice to have the time to do things. You definitely appreciate it more after you’ve worked hard for a long time.”
As she has won the competition for some time, she will not enter next year, but will host the gardening event instead.
