Residents have the chance to say What Makes York Special at a meeting this week.
An open forum on the question will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday, in the Friends’ Meeting House in Clifford Street.
The issue is being discussed in connection with a new planning document, which will underpin the city’s planning process for the next two decades.
Last year, the city council and English Heritage commissioned an appraisal of the city centre’s historic core conservation area.
A study defining its special characteristics has now been undertaken, and will be discussed at the forum as part of a wider consultation by the council.
