YOUNGSTERS at a school near York got to grips with foreign languages as their studies took on an international flavour.
Forest of Galtres Primary School marked its language day by asking pupils to choose a country and dress for the occasion, with costumes ranging from geisha girls and salsa dancers to monks.
The school staged a French day last year and widened the concept to cover the whole of the world this time, allowing children to get a taste of languages such as Italian, German and Spanish.
The pupils were also asked to provide a greeting in a foreign language to headteacher Christine Windwood at the gates.
She said: “It was really wonderful to hear them all and there was such an excitement on the day, so it’s something we will definitely do again.”
