TALENTED young chefs from primary schools throughout York marked the end of term with a cookery competition.
Organised by Frances Outram, Joseph Rowntree School’s food technology teacher, pupils were asked to create a sweet and savoury dish suitable for a summer picnic. Mrs Outram said: “I thought it would be a nice way to finish off the year by having two pupils from each school to come in for the competition.
“The skills that they came with were very good. I was surprised at some of the products they did produce.”
The pupils who took part came from Haxby Road, New Earswick, Ralph Butterfield, Wigginton, Headlands and Park Grove primary schools.
