THE city council has recently begun a programme of consultation on a major appraisal of the characteristics and qualities which people think make York special.

This appraisal will inform policies which will conserve these qualities and manage change and development in the city over the next 20 years or so.

As a contribution to the consultation process, the York Open Planning Forum is holding an open forum on tomorrow in the Friends’ Meeting House in Clifford Street. The meeting will start at 7.30pm and will include a presentation of the basic recommendations of the appraisal, followed by time for questions and answers.

This forum is open to everyone with an interest and concern for the future of the historic character of the city, and all are invited to attend.
