WHEN the authorities responsible for covering York with useless and dangerous speed bumps, somebody decided it was a good idea to place one on the south side of the bridge over the disused railway line on Haxby Road (now a cycle lane).
However, cunning motorists noticed it was possible to avoid this bump by driving close the pavement which meant that the vehicles nearside wheels would be in the cycle lane for a few yards (or meters if you prefer).
When this came to the notice of the authorities, a bollard was erected to prevent naughty motorists from doing this.
In view of the lack of money we have for essentials such as filling in potholes, I consider this to be a total waste of ratepayers’ money.
