THE logo for the upcoming Selby Jobs Fair has been designed by an art and design student from Selby College.
The fair, which will be held at the Abbey Leisure Centre on September 21, has been organised by Jobcentre Plus with Nigel Adams, MP for Selby and Ainsty.
Mr Adams said: “I knew there was a lot of talent in the art and design department at the college.
“However, I was overwhelmed by the quality of designs put forward.”
Emma Thompson, of Thorpe Willoughby, put forward eight designs for the job fair logo, after a suggestion from her art and design tutor.
The 17-year-old said: “I was really pleased to be asked to get involved as it was the first live brief we had been given and because of the fast turnaround it was more like working in the industry.”
It is hoped the jobs fair will bring more business to the town, and offer help, advice and possible jobs to those seeking employment in Selby and the surrounding areas. There will also be workshops on interview techniques, CV writing and efficient use of the internet for jobseekers.
