A POWER cut affected 778 homes in Elvington, Escrick and Wheldrake last night.
The power went off at about 6.54pm due to a fault on NEDL’s network.
Engineers were able to restore supplies remotely to about 80 customers within ten minutes, but the remaining homes were left without power until about 11pm.
An NEDL spokeswoman apologised for “any inconvenience” and said the cause of the fault was due to a high voltage fault on the main network.
