Updated: A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed after a crash with a tractor near Selby area.
Emergency services were called to the A645 between Eggborough and Knottingley at about 12.50pm yesterday.
A police spokeswoman confirmed the motorcyclist, a man in his thirties, was pronounced dead at the scene.
She said the driver of a tractor, a 27-year-old man from the Goole area, had been arrested. The road was closed by police for more than three hours.
A spokeswoman from Yorkshire Ambulance said two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene.
The Press understands the biker, who has not yet been named, was travelling from Eggborough towards Knottingley.
Earlier this year, a report showed a rise in the number of bikers killed on the roads of North Yorkshire, despite the total number of road deaths falling by 52.
The report, which was handed to the North Yorkshire Police Authority, showed that all four fatalities on the roads in Selby in 2010 were motorcyclists.
Anyone who witnessed the crash, or has information which could help police, should phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 6060247.
