REFERENCE the concert by Blondie, so Simon Ritchie was “touched by her presence” – Debbie Harry being the lady in question (The Press, July 25).
Good for him and for your readers who enjoyed his review of the concert. Why, I wonder, was no such review forthcoming on the concert given by jazz singer Carol Kidd and her guitarist Nigel Clark at York Theatre Royal on July 19?
I have noticed that jazz seems to be a low priority. It is equally puzzling given that your jazz correspondent Ron Burnett gave it a mention in his Friday column the previous week, stating it was to be the highlight of the week in jazz circles.
Carol Kidd is a respected and fine experienced performer who is a total professional in every way. She sings all over the world and performed in York Minster some years ago with Humphrey Lyttelton.
Incidentally, she is the same age as M/s Harry, so a real trouper who deserved a mention in your newspaper.
