COULD I through your pages ask Tommy Woodward a few questions (Letters, July 20). As an obvious non-believer, I wonder what you do on Christmas Day; do you not enjoy a family dinner?
Do you not buy or gratefully receive presents? Do you not give presents to your grandson who ‘knows’ about Santa Claus? Do you not send Christmas cards?
When your friends invite you for a ‘Christmas drink’, do you refuse to go? Do you not attend Christmas functions in your role as a councillor? Do you refuse to attend church weddings?
Do you work on Christmas Day, Easter Day, etc, or do you take advantage of a day off like most non-believers do?
Christians are tolerant of, but feel sorry for, non-believers. Christians do not “mock”. Unfortunately, people who disbelieve or find it amusing do knock and mock Christians; but would you mock a Muslim’s beliefs?
I am sure any Christian on the council would respect a leader of any faith, but Mr Woodward appears to be very intolerant.
Hilary Brown, Broughton, Malton.
