ALTHOUGH Andy Bell’s decision to participate in Pop Star to Opera Star was more than a tad ill judged, at least Erasure as a live act thrilled their loyal core audience at Dalby Forest in June.
As part of the band’s 25th anniversary, their already well-presented back catalogue receives a superlative makeover. Both Wonderland and Circus have been expanded to include hard to find remixes and achieve treasures, along with a DVD featuring vintage clips from Top Of The Pops and period concerts.
Although both collections are most certainly aimed at die hard fans, the more curious will rediscover Who Needs Love Like That, Oh L’Amour and Heavenly Action on Wonderland and Victim Of Love and Sometimes on Circus.
Also, hidden away is Erasure’s Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight), which ironically Bjorn & Benny from ABBA refused to grant permission to Erasure to release as a single.
