IT took Scottish rockers Bifffy Clyro long enough to grow into a band that would sell out Wembley Arena, so you can’t blame them for milking it with this CD and DVD set of their winter 2010 gig.
This review comes with a caveat. They might not be my cup of tea but, if you like Biffy Clyro, you will undoubtedly adore this. A 19-track review of their Revolutions record, along with some of their greatest hits, the sound quality on the CD is tremendous.
Then there’s the DVD, which opens with a montage of fans clutching tickets with wide smiles – all dressed in band merchandise – and sprinting for the best views.
Impeccably produced, the dozens of camera angles, and super slow motion motions, makes this feel more like a film than a recording of a live show.
It really is impressive and, interspersed with tour footage and bonus material – namely a track by track band commentary and a performance from T In The Park – it is great value.
The sound quality is so good, near record perfect, that it makes you wonder whether some tinkering has gone on in the editing suite. If not, it’s a testament to the live skills of Simon Neil and James and Ben Johnston.
The hits are the highlights – as these are the songs which get the greatest reaction. The Captain and Mountains form brilliant bookends. It’s a must for Biffy followers.
