A SELBY woman who lived and worked in York has died at the age of 102.
Violet Colton died on July 16 at Lake House, Kelfirled, and her funeral was held yesterday at York Crematorium.
Violet had two children, Sheila and Brian, with her husband Cyril, who she married in 1928 and who died in 1984.
The couple had six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and Violet had also become a great-great-grandmother.
Sheila, speaking to The Press in 2009 ahead of her mother’s 100th birthday, said: “She listens to all our troubles and I think they call her the agony aunt in the home because she listens to everyone’s ills.
“We all love her to bits.”
Violet’s family asked for donations in lieu of flowers to be made to Lake House Residents’ Fund.
