PUPILS at Ralph Butterfield Primary School in Haxby have raised £4,000 for the NSPCC.
All 293 children, aged five to 11, put on a fun-for-all day of activities, throwing themselves into sports, disco dancing and games, in a bid to collect money for the children’s charity. Money is still rolling in thanks to the parents’ generous donations.
The school chooses a different organisation every year to raise money for, with 2011’s being the much-loved NSPCC, which a child suggested to the teachers. Angela Mitchell, head teacher, said: “It is a wonderful achievement. I’m not at all surprised by how much we have raised, as the families of the pupils have always been kind and supportive towards the school.”
