THANK you for printing my letter Poppy memories (Letters, July 20).

It is nice to read stories of reader’s past memories, which on reading The Press of July 25 other reader’s took time to write they had collected poppy petals also.

I thought I would write to say thank you to Mrs Barbara Pettitt for putting me right. It was Raines Wholesale Chemists. In 2007, I had a slight hiccup in my health: I could not remember my name, date of birth or address; my limbs would not respond either. So I did what babies do, and learned all over again. The brain is a very good piece of our anatomy, and now four years on I am almost there.

I was told by my teacher at school to put everything we were told into our store cupboard, which was of course our brain, and close the door until that subject was required. I am now replenishing my cupboard and have put in Raines Chemists in case I require it again.

Writing letters to The Press and family and friends has helped me enormously, so thanks all round.
