JOHN Reeves betrays his anti-Labour prejudices in his latest letter (Letters, July 25).
He claims Labour policy is making people jobless, when it’s the Tory-led coalition Government which is destroying jobs in reckless pursuit of deficit reduction.
To ascribe the contraction in the construction business to affordable housing quotas is bizarre.
All over the country, housing starts are down, regardless of local policy, as public investment in the building business is cut. That’s down to the Government’s economic policies, which have just been condemned by a former economic adviser to the coalition as “cutting too fast and too deep”.
Our current pathetic growth figures compare badly, not only to other nations, but also to those bequeathed by the outgoing Labour government.
