Liam Evans-Ford and Ben Pugh are pictured promoting next year’s York Mystery Plays with two goats at the Yorkshire Museum of Farming at Murton, York.

Liam and Ben, of York Theatre Royal, yesterday celebrated 365 days until the opening of the plays, which will be marked by new information stands throughout York’s city libraries.

Next year’s performances will take place in the city’s Museum Gardens and form part of the York 800 City Charter and Olympic celebrations.

A partnership between York Museum’s Trust, Riding Lights Theatre Company and York Theatre Royal has made possible the construction of a specialised stage to seat 1,400 theatre-goers, who will enjoy the production with the magnificent St Mary’s Abbey as backdrop.
