VANDALS slashed tyres and smashed wing mirrors on 15 cars in part of York.

Police are investigating the vandalism spree in the early hours of Sunday in the Foxwood area of the city. A blue Ford Focus had all four tyres slashed on Oldman Court and a further nine vehicles were attacked on Burgess Walk, one of which, a white Mazda, was parked on the owner’s drive.

Five cars also had their tyres slashed in Foxwood Lane.

Police have been making house-to-house inquiries in the area and are now appealing to the public to help with the investigation.

PC Antony Smith, of York West Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The owners of the damaged vehicles are going to have to pay a fair amount of money to get their vehicles back on the road, thanks to the pointless actions of some petty criminals.

“I am appealing to anyone who can help us catch those responsible to get in touch with any information they may have.”

Anyone who can help the police with their inquiries should phone PC Smith on 0845 6060247, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
