I WAS upset to hear that there have been threats made against the Muslim population in York who, so far as I am concerned, are a peaceful and pleasant part of our community.
I live in Olympian Court, close to the site of both the present and proposed future mosque, and have absolutely no objection to the plans, or to the presence of worshippers close by.
Surely it is only by inclusivity that we will move forward globally? Of course there are countries where Christians cannot worship freely and this is wrong – but it is also wrong to blame or try to punish those who live in our city and participate in its activities for this, just as it would be wrong to punish Christians in York for the recent acts of a madman in Norway.
