THANK you for your latest article on York Student Frank Fernie (The Press, August 1). I can’t believe he still faces a year’s imprisonment for throwing two placard sticks during the anti-cuts protest in London.

I would have thought that the powers-that-be would have come to their senses by now, and realised that a prison sentence is entirely disproportionate to the crime.

Please show your support for Frank by attending the Free Frank rally, which starts at the fountain on Parliament Street, at 1pm this Saturday.
