Young people’s group Snappy has proudly launched its own Bike Club with a day of bike skills and cycle maintenance.
Snappy, a club for young people with mental and physical disabilities, tried bike handling and cycle maintenance, then members travelled to Clifton to stretch their legs, riding on sections of York’s cycle path network. Training and a number of bikes have been paid for thanks to a grant and support from the charitable partnership Bike Club.
Adult and youth volunteers are now being trained as ride leaders. Ann Stamp, manager of Snappy, said: “I think the Bike Club will challenge and develop new skills in everyone, even us staff. We are going to start off with small rides and at the end celebrate everyone’s achievements with a Family Bike Parade round York.”
