LIMITED edition prints of a sporting legend by an artist from North Yorkshire have been put on sale to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Emma Silversides, from Cawood, near Selby, painted the original portrait of Lance Armstrong in the famed yellow jersey during one of his Tour de France runs, and has signed and numbered 100 prints of the artwork to be sold for charity.
Emma is a cycling professional, and is principal rider of the Sengers Ladies Cycling Team, but paints in her spare time and is selling the prints to celebrate Pedal For Pounds North.
Emma, whose grandfather died of cancer, said: “I know for sure that I am not alone when I say that I lost a precious family member to cancer.
“I think that it is fair to say that everyone has been touched by this disease in one way or another.”
Pedal For Pounds North is an annual event, where riders can take part in a 25-mile cycle from Harewood House, near Leeds, to Collingham and back, or a 50-mile return trip to Otley.
This year marks the fifth time the event has been held in the North, and will take place on Sunday, September 4, and Emma said: “I fully support Pedal for Pounds. What better way to raise money for this worthy cause than getting out on your bike and enjoying the stunning scenery that our county offers.”
