SONJA CRISP’S letter re proposed mosque in Bull Lane mentions her dismay at comments on The Press website (Letters, July 28).
I, too, am dismayed – by her dismissal of people’s opinions as naive. One building is no great consequence, but the statement that its architecture makes can be.
Through the persistence of a far-left political agenda, people are often afraid to express their opinions. A false idea of political correctness and a fear of being controversial are responsible for lack of debate on many subjects.
Multiculturalism and uncontrolled immigration is paving the way for the state to succumb to radical ideologies and religious practices.
The basic Christian commandment is to help all individuals in need regardless of colour or creed and I truly believe this, but unconditional surrender is not in my book.
And why if one leaves a country that has a dictatorship, restrictive laws, draconian suppression of females and no democracy and you have been lucky to gain admittance to the west do some of these people then try to establish here the very conditions that they fled from?
