IS it right to rely on a letter to The Press to get something done?

Given that the repairing of roads is a national problem, and we are at best a dot on the landscape tucked into a cul-de-sac, one would hope that problems acknowledged in print some five months ago would be acted on.

Evidently the road does not break intervention levels but a couple of areas have been marked for repair and will be done shortly (five months?).

Again, given that the concrete road was built some 50 years ago, it is hardly in pristine condition after this length of time with so little maintenance.

Just a couple of points raised in The Press. The 20mph proposals seem to be a good idea, but the notice taken by those passing our local school, where 90 per cent ignore the sign, does not hold out much hope, and this is for children’s safety.

A point raised about university parking is a problem for our road on a much smaller scale.

Because school-leaving collectors take up so much space, pushchairs and the like cannot use the pavement. One feels there is a lack of concern for others in self-centred thinking.
