Scouts from York who are representing North Yorkshire at the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden, have been experiencing the adventure of Swedish culture and traditions.
Taking a break from the main jamboree site with its 38,000 participants, the North Yorkshire group have been taking part in the so-called “camp within the camp”.
At a special satellite campsite situated in the surrounding forest, they have been getting to know the Swedish environment guided by their host Scouts from Sweden.
Max Butler, 17, from York, said: “My favourite part so far has been Camp in Camp because when we arrived we didn’t know anybody, but within 15 minutes we were chatting and making new friends.
“We shared meals with the Swedish guys and we learned some cool new skills, especially pioneering. They had built some amazing structures out of wooden poles and this inspired us to build a grand gateway to our North Yorkshire site when we returned to the Jamboree.”
