GARY SMITH has won the inaugural York Golf League after a dramatic final round at Skelton Park.
Smith held off the challenge of Shaun Adams to win the title by three points.
The battle for third saw Martin Alderson-Crombie produce the round of the night to climb from sixth place and eight points adrift into a tie with Howard Smith.
Damon Scott missed out on winning the nearest the pin competition by only two centimetres. That would have given him three bonus points and third place.
Alderson-Crombie then beat Smith in a sudden-death play-off to take third.
The final nearest the pin was won by Martin Hillaby.
The wooden spoon for the lowest placed golfer to compete in at least seven weeks went to Skelton Park co-owner Julian Davies.
