CHILDREN in York are being invited to design a banner to promote road safety and 20mph speed limits.

York firm Recognition Express is running a competition in collaboration with road safety charity Brake.

Youngsters aged four to 11 are being invited to design the banners to promote Brake’s national slogans Kids Say Slow Down and 20’s Plenty.

Richard Norton, of Recognition Express, which supplies corporate clothing and promotional items, said: “Running this competition gives us the opportunity to raise awareness among children and hopefully help to keep them safe.”

The competition runs from November 21 to 27. Entry details are available at re-york.co.uk/roadsafetyweek and closing date for entries is Friday, October 21.

The winner will have their banner printed and displayed outside their school, and gain 300 high-visibility drawstring bags for their classmates.
