THE Think, Don’t Swim campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers of the rivers, initially through a poster blitz of York’s pubs, clubs and shops, and also the city’s two universities as freshers arrive.
In agreement with the mother and sister of Richard, the poster recounts how the 21-year-old bartender thought he could swim the River Ouse, and features a picture of him taken only hours before he tried.
The poster tells how his funeral took place on August 1, and he is survived by his devastated parents and sister.
There are plans to distribute beermats featuring the same images and words, and a film is also set to be made.
