THE parents of a murdered police officer believed to be from York have travelled to Surrey to identify her body.
Though not yet formally identified, it is understood the dead woman is 33-year-old Heather Cooper, an officer from Surrey Police, who was originally from the Acomb area.
Her partner, a former police officer, is believed to be in custody following his arrest last night and is being questioned about the death.
A spokesman for the force said officers were contacted by a concerned member of the public and went to Blackdown Woods near Lurgashall, where they found the body.
A post mortem is scheduled for later this afternoon and it is hoped a formal identification will take place this afternoon.
